About Us
Enoch Lau
- runs the site, does a few notations here and there, feeds the pigeons.
Nothing much to put here. I built the site almost entirely from scratch and have been running its various incarnations since 2003. It's good practice.
In case you're wondering what gives me any right to tell you which chords to play... let's just say that I've been playing the piano for a reeeeally long time. And for all intents and purposes, I can play all the instruments in a rock band ... well (and I've played some of them quite long too) and I have a fair share of studio and performing experience. Man, I feel tired even thinking about it.
Anyway, I know you don't care. :)
If you find my work accurate enough for your use, that's great (tell a friend while you're at it). If not, you are free to throw various fluffy, blunt objects at me.

Konnichiwa, My name is Jelmer! (If you pronounce it correctly you’ll get a cookie)
I’m from the Netherlands. I don’t walk on wooden shoes, live in a windmill and grow tulips. I also don’t smoke pot every day on the street, and my house isn’t filled with blue-painted pottery. I do eat cheese, but guess what, it’s cheddar! And cheddar’s American. The USA and Holland aren’t really different actually.
But, that isn’t what this site’s all about.
I’ve been playing Piano and Keyboard since I was 6. I have always been freely educated, almost no music was pushed to me to do. I chose most of my own music to play. So I’m not really ‘classically trained’. I learned almost everything by just having much interest in the subject. At the moment I don’t have lessons anymore. I will, one day, continue, but I found out that I can play better – and am more artistic – when I don’t have the pressure of lessons.
I’ve also been playing guitar for 3 years now, so I’ll be doing tabs for this website too.
I watched my first anime when I was 7. Dragonball Z, it was the only one on Dutch tv at the time. After it got cancelled here, I stopped watching anime until Avatar: the Last Airbender aired. Since then my passion came back tripled, and now my day is incomplete without anime or Japanese stuff (Yes I do have a life).
For other stuff, you can contact me here.
Also:
- Neko-hats are cool.
- Ninjas are DEFINITELY better than pirates.

-2nd official transcriber for this site, likes to think and behave
as if he's a Jedi, but is probably closer to a samurai. Does the photocopying and makes the coffee for the rest of the staff, somehow.
Hey there. Nothing too fancy about myself, I was born in KL, Malaysia. I was trained classically in piano up to and inclusive of Grade 4 with the ABRSM and was doing Grade 5 piano and theory prior to the move to Melbourne, Australia in '00.
I picked up the drums and have been playing intermittently between '98-'00, and did not start again until roughly '02 and I continue playing on a rather regular basis today. Around '04 I picked up the and began self learning, which brings me here today. While I AM proficient in guitar, I pride myself more as a rhythmic guitarist (while I am primarily a drummer if you put me in a band). I *could* do tabs, but I'll just leave that to Jelmer's capable hands here. Outside this site I am one of the global moderators for AnimeOST.NET.
I remember vaguely watching Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball (and subsequently early DBZ eps), and Doraemon dubbed in different languages as a kid back in KL, but did not really explode into anime watching until about the end of '04 with Tenshi na Konamaiki (A Cheeky Angel) and led me to other series such as Gundam SEED / Destiny, Fafner in the Azure, Mai HiME & Otome, Ai Yori Aoshi, Rurouni Kenshin, etc.
As an aside, I learned Japanese language in high school, so i have *some* idea of actually speaking proper Japanese (lack of practice fails me). And just to spite Jelmer(as a joke), Jedi and Samurai OWN pirates and ninjas.
Yoroshiku~!

-Newest transcriber, does the hard stuff that the rest of us won't (or can't).
Hey everyone! I'm Emily, also called Akemi. Feel free to request chord and sheet notation from me because I need the excuse to get more practice.
I've always been music crazy; according to my mother I showed signs of it in infancy. I started playing by ear when I was seven or eight (just melodies, nothing impressive). At fourteen I started playing guitar, which eventually lead me to this site. I had tried piano lessons twice before, but hated it both times. After all, at the time I was playing better music by ear than they have in those much-despised primers. A large portion of my musical knowledge came from a teacher that started out teaching me guitar, but it ended up with me bringing my keyboard to lessons. He taught me more in-depth musical theory, as well as giving me pointers on the music I wrote. I have since been passed on to a piano teacher that does mostly the same thing with more of a concentration on reading sheet music.
I'm also in a rock band on keyboard and sometimes-vocals. The band is called Controlled Substance and has been around less than two years, but we're hoping to make it big someday. Most of the members are also anime fans and the name of the band was actually inspired by Pocky. (so good it should be a controlled substance in the US, ne?)
As far as anime goes, I didn't know that it existed until I was twelve or thirteen. My first anime was Inuyasha, now I don't see how I could have abided that dub. Then came Rurouni Kenshin, Wolf's Rain, Trigun, and on like that. More recently some of my favorite anime has been Ouran Koukou Hosutobu (Ouran Highschool Hostclub), Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), and Death Note. Over the last year or so I have gone J-rock crazy, so you might see some music that is unrelated to any specific anime from me.
Again, feel free to request songs from me. I won't necessarily end up doing all of them, but I want to be kept busy. Music is my goal and I want as much experience as I can get.
